Chocolate Tart
Happy Easter! Easter Sunday is the perfect time for family, friends, good food and *slightly* too much fizz. Falling into the good food category is this chocolate tart, the perfect end to a Sunday dinner.
This was so easy to make which is just what you want when you've got a house full of people. I found this recipe on BBC Good Food and it definitely went down a treat - just as good the second time around this evening! The perfect combination of a crunchy base and gooey chocolate centre.
Ingredients;
- 80g softened unsalted butter
- 40g caster sugar
- 110g self raising flower
- 15g cocoa powder
- 75g unsalted butter
- 100g dark chocolate
- 75g caster sugar
- 50g plain flour
- 4 medium eggs
- Golden Galaxy chocolate eggs
Method;
- Begin by beating the softened butter and sugar together until smooth.
- Next add the flour and cocoa and mix until well combined. Once mixed, use your hands to bring the dough for the shortbread base into a ball and roll out on a floured work surface. This dough is really crumbly so it was easier to press separate chunks into the base of a 21cm tart tin until fully covered. Once the base is covered, place the tin into the fridge to cool for 15 minutes.
- Whilst waiting for the dough to cool, preheat the oven to 180degreesC.
- Now time to make the filling. Melt the butter and chocolate together in a pan over a low heat. Once melted, stir in the sugar and flour and mix until well combined.
- Next, beat in the eggs to the mixture and leave to one side.
- Take the dough from the fridge and prick the base with a fork. Bake in the oven for 15 minutes until firm.
- Now, pour the filling onto the tart base - it may come over the edge of the base but that's not a problem - and decorate with the golden eggs.
- Place back in the oven and cook for 10-12 minutes. The sides should be firm with a little wobble in the middle.
- Allow to cool and serve with cream or ice cream - some fresh fruit would also be a nice addition!
The perfect Easter treat. Enjoy!
